Who we are
This website, cogwire.ie, is run by Navy Octopus Solutions Ltd, a company registered in Ireland (CRO 782634). We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website. You can reach us at hello@cogwire.ie.
This notice covers the website only. If you use the Cogwire app, its own policy applies: cogwire.app/privacy.
What we collect and why
When you send us a message
If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message. We use them only to reply to you and deal with what you asked about. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us. The form is delivered by FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), a third-party service that passes your message to our inbox at support@cogwire.ie. We keep messages for as long as we need them to respond and follow up, and then delete them.
Analytics, only if you agree
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit and which pages they find useful. It only sets cookies if you choose to accept analytics cookies in our cookie banner, and our lawful basis is your consent. Until you accept, Google Analytics runs in a restricted mode: it sets no cookies and receives only basic, cookieless signals (such as the page, time, browser type and your consent choice) that are not used to identify you. Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited.
Your cookie choice
We use CookieYes to show the cookie banner and remember your choice. That needs one necessary cookie, which doesn't track you.
Running the website
The site is hosted by Render. As with any website, the servers that deliver it process technical details such as your IP address, browser and the page requested, to send you the page and keep the service secure. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website. Fonts and images are served from our own site, so loading a page doesn't send your details to font or image providers.
We don't sell your data, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't make automated decisions about you.
Cookies
These are the cookies this website can set. Analytics cookies are only set after you accept them.
| Cookie | What it's for | Type | Set by | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cookieyes-consent | Remembers your cookie choices so we don't ask again. | Necessary | CookieYes | 1 year |
| _ga | Tells visits apart so we can count how many people use the site. | Analytics (only if you accept) | Google Analytics | 2 years |
| _ga_<ID> | Keeps track of a visit (session) for the same reason. | Analytics (only if you accept) | Google Analytics | 2 years |
You can change your mind at any time: , or use the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings.
Who we share it with
Only the services that help us run this website, and only for the purposes above:
- FormSubmit, to deliver contact form messages to us.
- Google (Google Analytics), for visitor statistics, only with your consent.
- CookieYes, to record your cookie choice.
- Render, to host the website.
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, the transfer is covered by safeguards recognised under GDPR, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Links to other sites, such as our Instagram page, are covered by those sites' own privacy policies.
Your rights
Under data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- correct it, or delete it
- restrict or object to how we use it
- give it to you in a portable format
Where we rely on your consent, such as for analytics, you can withdraw it at any time through cookie settings. To use any of these rights, email hello@cogwire.ie. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland at dataprotection.ie.
Changes to this notice
If we change how the website uses personal data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
